Celebrating 40 Years on the Road - CD & DVD Launch Night - 26/04/07

Tonight we held the launch of our new music CD called “Live and Direct” and our DVD from the “Battle of the Bands 2007” event. Both are products of the band sand no outside help has been used to recording and editing these items.

Thanks to Philip & Stephen for their timeless and at point’s thankless work they do on behalf of the East Belfast Protestant Boys.

I have to say I was really surprised how many people turned up to support us on the night; I would like to thank all you bandsmen and friends of the band for taking the time to travel to this function.

People came from as far as Londonderry, Markethill, Ballymena, Rasharkin, Ballymoney, Bangor, Lisburn and Coleraine to watch a short preview of the Battle of the Bands DVD. This event has been a great success over the 2 years that it has been running and without the support of bands attending this would not be possible.

Our new CD called “Live and Direct” is dedicated to all the men whom have come through the ranks of the band over the 40 years being on the road, it is indeed a great honour to help uphold the tradition of the Proddie Boys!

Stephen opened up the night by thanking everyone for attending and the large crowd in attendance then watched a preview of the DVD.

This was an informal event and it was a great night to have a talk with new friends and lots of old ones. Food was provided on the night and judging by what was left on the plates it seemed to go down well!

Thanks to everyone fro turning up to support us, sales of the CD and DVD are going very well and with these funds it will make sure the East Belfast Protestant Boys are on the road for a while longer at least!

The CD and DVD are both £10 each and they can only be purchased from the Union Jack Shop or any East Belfast Protestant Boys band member; if you see copies of these on sale on E-Bay or any market stalls then please ask them where they got them from and please contact us via the Union Jack Shop.

We hope you enjoy both items!

John Keenan
East Belfast Protestant Boys Flute Band Chairman
