Pride of Shankill Battle of the bands final - 27/11/09

The final tonight consisted of 3 bands, unfortunately the 4th and 5th scheduled bands, Drumaheagles and Lagan Valley couldnt make it. A much better crowd than the previous heat in attendance tonight.

We were first up again and in my view played ok. Drunken Sailor seemed to go down well with the crowd. I personally found it a bit hard to play in a heat and the final within 7 days of each other. It came a bit quick for us but we enjoyed it none the less.

Below are a selection of photographs of the band in action.

Next up was the West Belfast Volunteers. A young band on show with 5 drummers and 11 flautists. They played a good wee flute solo, not easy anywhere. A good routine by the Westies with a hardcore tune list. I enjoyed listning to them.

Last but not least was the Ballyclare Protestant FB. A band i don't know much about. A small outfit but big in heart. The crowd enjoyed their routine and they played to please on the night. Well done lads.

The results are as follows:
1st - East Belfast Protestant Boys
2nd - West Belfast Volunteers
3rd - Ballyclare Protestant
Winners

Tonight we played with 6 drummers, 2 bass drummers and 17 flautists.

Well done to the Pride of Shankill on your contest. It isn't easy to run one so close to Christmas but all bands that attended done their part to make it a success.
