More or less a home parade for us today leaving from the Raven club, Castlereagh street just across from the Short Strand.
It certainly gets you going straight away, although thankfully all was quiet from that point of view.
Last year this parade was a complete washout with bad weather so today was a big improvement all round. The parade had a special guest over from scotland, well done to the Glenmavis band for supporting the host band. Alot of smaller bands on show today including the Crimson Star, Whitewell Defenders, Monkstown YCV, Gertrude star, Young Conway Volunteers, Clyde Valley Larne and the Toye who was back up in Belfast. Ballybeen do look well in their new YCV uniform, it really lifts them. It was also good to see SOTN Dollingstown and the South Belfast Young Conquerors in the East. With satruday afternoon parades you have the likes of football which always affects numbers. So well done to everyone who put in the effort to come today. I felt the crowds today were poor. After the 12th in my view it seems to go downhill, poor crowds yet good bands on show.
Here are clips of the band in action:

Tonight we were awarded:
1st Colour party
2nd Flute corp
2nd Bass drum
1st Drum corp
1st Blood and thunder
Today our own band paraded with 7 of a colour party, 15 drummers, 2 bass drummers, 27 flautists and marshalls. For us a great turnout in our own backyard so to speak. Its hard for me to speak every week on our performance without sounding big headed, but we played as good as it gets. Bass drummers on fire with the rest of the band responding in kind. Sometimes hard to lift but i reckon we kept it going all day in all departments. Well done to the membership for attending today.
Well done to Rising Sons East Belfast
