Belvoir Bar Somme Association parade - 24/09/10

Last night we attended the opening of the new memorial garden beside the Belvoir bar. The small parade started from the old school on Templemore avenue with a total of 6 bands on show being the Pride of the Raven, Rising Sons East Belfast, Parkinson Accordian, Lord Carson Accordian, Pride of Ardoyne and ourselves.

I was very suprised at how many people who made the effort to come out and watch or take part. A short service was also held and the colour parties looked well around the new garden.

Here is a clip of the band in action:

Tonight we paraded with 8 of a colour party, 1 drum major, 17 drummers, 3 bass drummers, 30 flautists and marshalls. A great turnout for our last parade of the season. We were proud to take part in this parade. For years the empty space beside the bar was wasted. Now a 36th Ulster Division memorial garden sits proudly there. After the parade we had a get to gether in our band hall to celebrate the end of a very good season for us. Once again a big thank you to all of our members, familys and supporters for making it possible.

Well done to the Belvoir Somme Association!
