14/9/19

Yesterday seen the close to our 2019 marching season, yet another successful season in our bands history.

Wether it be the social aspect of being in a band, the love of music or for the Protestant faith, your Unionist belief or Loyalist conviction, we stand shoulder to shoulder with many men from all walks of life from across the country and as far as the main land.

2019 has been an emotional roller coaster for our membership. The band scene is going through a transitional period, no doubt about it. Everyone is feeling the pinch. The marching band movement will prevail, help us, don’t kick us when we are down.

Fancy a new challenge? Monday nights 19:30. All welcome!

Where our music is welcome,
We will play it loud,
Where our music is challenged,
We will play it louder!

It has come to the bands attention there are twitter pages using our name. The band at present does not have an official twitter page nor has it ever.

One has been reported and is now closed down.

Anything the band want on social media will be posted on facebook unless specified.

Anything posted previously on twitter using our name was not and is not an opinion of our band membership or its committee.

12/7/19

A big thanks to the Witherow Memorial LOL 1337 for accompanying our band yesterday on the biggest day of the year, hopefully a the start of a long friendship.

The day started off with a presentation from band to lodge and the reverse.

Well done to all members, especially the new guys. A big mention to members who couldnt make it due to various reasons, especially young Mort who serves Queen and country.

We must mention John Kennan whom unfortunately watched from the sidelines due to ill health but was there with us in the morning to see us off and throughout the day. He also made an appearance within the ranks on occasion.

Get well soon wee man

7/7/19 - Deepest sympathies

The officers and members of the Protestant Boys East Belfast would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Darren Williams (Framezy) after his untimely death.

A young man with a young family with a lot ahead of him.

Our thoughts also go out to the Shankill Protestant Boys, who have over the past number of months lost 3 members.

A sad time within the band fraternity. God bless

5/7/19 - Best wishes

The band would like to wish our very own living legend China a speedy recovery after a recent health issue.

Everyone and their granny knows without him there is no Protestant Boys. Get the feet up wee man, ready when you are.

Its about the battle, not the bottle!

1/7/19 - Lest we forget

"I am not an Ulsterman but yesterday, the 1st. July, as I followed their amazing attack, I felt that I would rather be an Ulsterman than anything else in the world." (Cpt Wilfred Spender, 2 July 1916

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."

Lest we forget.

5/5/19 - The Boyne

Today our band visited the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre It follows our recent trip to the The Siege Museum in Londonderry a few weeks back. A very enjoyable and informative day for many who had never visited before. The Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre is located in the recently restored 18th century Oldbridge House in Meath, the site of a famous historic battle in the 17th century. Visitors to the centre will discover the story of this infamous historic battle between two kings that occurred on 1 July 1690 (or 11 July, according to our modern calendar). At this battle site on the banks of the River Boyne, two rival monarchs, King James II and his son-in-law William III, clashed violently with fearful consequences. Both kings commanded their armies in person. William had 36,000 troops and James had 25,000, the largest number of soldiers ever deployed on an Irish battlefield. At stake were the British throne, French dominance in Europe and religious power in Ireland, making it a significant chapter in Irish history. Today the modern visitor centre is located in the restored Oldbridge House. The nearby Townley Hall Woods Trail takes visitors through King William's Glen where the Williamite troops were ultimately victorious at the Battle of the Boyne. Optional self-guided walks are available through the core battle site and Oldbridge Estate. We highly recommend it.
